SKU's in Shopify: How to correctly publish a SKU and link information to Ship Hero
This Knowledge Base article details how to publish a SKU the correct way in Shopify. SKUs have to be created in Shopify to then push to ShipHero
- Shopify | Responsible for SKUs/ Products.
- ShipHero | Responsible for inventory.
It's important to have all the correct information for each of your SKU's on hand when you enter into your Shopify store so that you don't create multiple entries for the same product and that iLogistics USA receives the correct information.
1) Before you create a SKU in your Shopify site, make sure you have the following on hand:
a) Product Name
b) SKU
c) Barcodes
***All three are *super important* and you want to make sure this information is correct!
2) Then, go into Shopify and go to Products >> Add Product>> Add Product Name.
Scroll down and enter other information including SKU and Barcode. If you don't have the barcode yet, please pause and notify Support@ilogisticsusa.com.
3) When ready to publish to your Shopify store, scroll to the top right and change Product Status from Draft >> to Active.
Your product should now appear in Shopify and also "Push" to your ShipHero store.
If you are looking to add a SKU in Shopify to push to ShipHero but are not ready for that Product to be live in Shopify:
Product Status in Shopify determines if a product is available in your store. The product status on newly created products is set as "Draft" by default.
You can set the following statuses:
Active: the product details are complete and the product is available to be displayed in the sales channels.
Draft: the product details need to be completed before it can be displayed in the sales channels.
Archived: the product details are complete, but the product is no longer for sale. Archiving a product hides it from your admin and sales channels. You can find the archive button at the bottom of the product details page.
Sales channels and apps display a list of your active sales channels where you can make the product available. To edit sales channel availability,
- From your Shopify admin, go to Products > All products.
- Click the product's name to open its details. The product is available to the sales channels listed in the Product status section.
- Set the product status as active.
- Click Manage.
- Select the channels and apps to make the product available to. You can have "0" selected where the product/s are Active but unavailable for all sales channels
- Click Done.
- Click Save.
